Faith in Action – Serving Beyond Our Walls

From its earliest days, Transfiguration of Christ has understood that faith must be lived.

In 1928, the “Anagennisis” Philoptochos Society of Corona was officially established. The word Anagennisis means “Rebirth,” reflecting the spiritual transformation found in Christ. For nearly a century, the women of Philoptochos have served tirelessly — feeding the hungry, comforting the grieving, supporting students, aiding immigrants, and responding to disasters both locally and abroad.

Their charity work extended through the hardships of the Great Depression, through war, through economic challenges, and into modern times. They have supported St. Michael’s Home, Hellenic College Holy Cross, St. Basil’s Academy, and countless families in need.

In recent years, the parish has continued to move forward with bold initiatives, including the launch of a Spanish-speaking ministry under the vision of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. This ministry seeks to extend the love of Christ to the local Hispanic community through catechism, liturgical services, and pastoral outreach.

From 1926 to today, this parish has never stood still.

Each generation has taken faithful steps forward — ensuring that the light of Christ continues to shine in Corona.
